Find the Literary Device: Practice Identifying Literary Devices in Literature

These exercises will help students practice identifying literary devices in real books (To Kill A Mockingbird, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Missing Sisters, and Racing in the Rain).

Students are given a quote from the book (with a brief quote set up to help them understand the context of the quote) and asked to identify the different aspects of the literary device within the quote.

This is a great stepping stone to getting kids to recognize literary devices in the books they are reading.

There are six excerpts with seven literary devices in the worksheet. A key is included.
